Electric Vehicle Mobility
Completed
The Oregon Coast Visitors Association (OCVA) prioritizes expanding electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure along the Oregon Coast to respond to increasing demand for sustainable travel options and as a key strategy in reducing visitor emissions. Given the coast’s reliance on car-bound visitors, this focus area is an impactful way to affect change within our organization’s sphere of influence.
To strategically plan for increased EV charging usage, OCVA received a generous grant from Pacific Power’s E-Mobility Grant Program. OCVA worked closely with Parametrix to assess current EV infrastructure in key Pacific Power territory locations like Clatsop County, Lincoln City, and Coos Bay. This strategic planning ensured that the most critical areas for EV charging were prioritized. Alongside this, OCVA has provided technical assistance to local businesses and community partners, helping them navigate complex rebate and incentive programs to install their own chargers. Next steps for this area include increasing the map data to include other key non-Pacific Power territory locations to the map as well as continue to support local partners in installing EV chargers. This dual approach aims to foster both short-term infrastructure improvements and long-term sustainability.

How it all comes together
See how this project aligns with the Glasgow Declaration – a global commitment by tourism stakeholders to address climate change – and its key principles.
In partnership with Parametrix, OCVA is conducting detailed assessments of current infrastructure and future demand to guide strategic charging station placement.
By expanding EV infrastructure, the project contributes to Oregon’s carbon reduction goals, making sustainable travel more accessible to coastal visitors.
The initiative supports the preservation of the coast’s environment by reducing emissions and encouraging low-impact travel practices.
The project involves collaboration between local governments, utility providers, and community stakeholders to ensure sustainable infrastructure development that aligns with coastal needs.
In addition to direct project funding, OCVA is helping local businesses and communities access state and federal rebates for installing charging stations, ensuring the financial sustainability of the EV infrastructure.
The project focuses on ensuring that rural and underserved coastal areas receive equitable access to EV infrastructure, fostering inclusive and sustainable tourism opportunities.
