The Oregon Coast Visitors Association (OCVA) is seeking artwork for the cover of our Oregon Coast Inspiration Guide!
We’re looking for artwork that captures the spirit, character, and beauty of the Oregon Coast. From dramatic landscapes and working waterfronts to coastal communities, wildlife, and unexpected moments of discovery, we want to celebrate the places and experiences that make this stretch of coastline so special.
We’re inviting Oregon-based artists to submit proposals featuring either original artwork created for the guide or existing artwork available for licensing.
We’re looking for illustration and fine art, not photography. We typically feature photography on our guide covers and want to take a different creative approach with this edition. We welcome a range of artistic styles and mediums, including digital illustration, painting, drawing, and other traditional or contemporary approaches.
Generative AI-created imagery will not be considered.
About the Opportunity
The selected artwork will be featured on the cover of OCVA’s Oregon Coast Inspiration Guide, helping introduce visitors to the places, people, and experiences that make Oregon’s coast unique.
With a print run of 100,000 copies, the guide reaches visitors and travel planners interested in discovering and exploring the Oregon Coast. The guide is also available in digital formats and promoted through OCVA’s marketing channels and tourism-industry partners.
Our goal is to feature artwork that offers a fresh, creative interpretation of the Oregon Coast while inspiring people to explore and connect with this remarkable place.
We’re looking for artwork that:
- Represents the Oregon Coast and reflects its distinctive character.
- Offers a compelling, creative interpretation of the coast.
- Works well as a publication cover and can accommodate the guide’s title and other cover text.
- Can be supplied as a high-resolution digital file suitable for professional printing.
Artists must be based in Oregon, with preference given to artists who live on the Oregon Coast.
Compensation
OCVA anticipates a budget of up to $2,500 for the selected artwork, depending on the proposal, scope of work, and licensing requirements.
Artists may submit proposals for either a new commission or an existing piece available for licensing. Please include your proposed fee and any applicable licensing costs.
The total project budget should include artwork creation or licensing and the usage rights outlined below.
Usage Rights
The selected artist will retain copyright and grant OCVA a non-exclusive license to use the artwork for the following purposes in connection with the 2027 Inspiration Guide:
- Inspiration Guide: The cover of the Oregon Coast Inspiration Guide in print and digital formats.
- OCVA Marketing: Promotion of the 2027 guide through OCVA’s website, social media, email newsletters, and other owned marketing channels.
- Media and Tourism Industry Promotion: Distribution and promotion of the 2027 guide through media outreach and tourism-industry partners.
The artwork will not be reused on future editions of the Inspiration Guide. OCVA may retain and display the artwork in archived or historical materials related to the 2027 guide.
The selected artist may display the artwork in their portfolio. OCVA will also recognize the selected artist in a social media post featuring the artwork.
Specific licensing terms will be finalized with the selected artist.
What to Submit
Please include the following in your proposal:
- Artist introduction: A brief bio and information about where you are based.
- Artwork or concept*: Images of existing artwork you’re proposing for the cover, or a description and preliminary sketches of your proposed original work.
- Portfolio: A link to your website, online portfolio, or examples of previous work.
- Proposed fee: Your requested compensation, including applicable licensing fees and confirmation that the proposed fee covers the usage rights outlined above.
- Availability: Confirmation that you can deliver the final digital artwork by March 1, 2027.
For existing artwork, please confirm that you own the work or have the authority to license it.
Please do not submit photography or generative AI-created imagery.
*Artwork submitted for consideration that is not selected for the visitor guide cover will not be retained, reproduced, or used by OCVA for any purpose.
Project Timeline
- Proposal deadline: November 30, 2026
- Artist selection: December 2026
- Final artwork due: March 1, 2027
